By the North Gate: Boys at a Picnic (spoilers)
I wasn't crazy about this story. JCO presents that nasty side of life, exposing cold-blooded random killers as people, people gone irrevocably wrong in their thinking. Certainly Rafe's thinking is warped.I think Rafe hallucinated the horse and Dan went along with him, confusing the younger boy. They seem thirsty for something besides beer, but they don't know what it is or how to get it. They move through the countryside killing for meaningless sums of money. As I completed the story I felt deflated and could only hope that they crashed or were caught in one of their crimes in an untold sequel.
